Dow Corning at Greenbuild 2014: Enabling sustainable construction while preserving design freedom

December 3, 2024
Today's building trends point to sustainable construction, which means architects, designers and contractors are seeking to maximize thermal performance of glass curtainwalls, achieve long-lasting protection from air and water, and increase construction site productivity – all without sacrificing the ever-important design freedom that enables aesthetically pleasing buildings.

Dow Corning Corporation – a global leader in silicones, silicon-based technology and innovation – continues to introduce technologies to address these needs and will spotlight a number of them during October's Greenbuild International Conference and Expo.Dow Corning also will host a book giveaway and signing with an industry pioneer during the expo. Additionally, one of Dow Corning's corporation-wide sustainability experts will be a panelist during a pre-conference summit.

Meet 'Explosion Green' author at Dow Corning booth

David Gottfried, CEO of Regenerative Ventures, will distribute and sign his new book, "Explosion Green," at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 23 in Dow Corning's expo booth. According to explosiongreen.com, the book is a 20-year account of the green building industry that focuses on "the inner workings of the building industry as it comes to grips with the imperative for environmentally friendly practices. It describes how the industry has evolved, and how this evolution has helped fight climate change and prevent further damage to the environment while creating a multibillion-dollar industry." A complimentary copy of the book will be provided to the first 100 visitors to the booth during Gottfried's appearance.

Dow Corning sustainability expert to speak on panel

Jennifer Princing, who leads Dow Corning's life cycle assessment initiatives, will be a panelist in a session titled "I'm Just a Bill" (session MH06) during the Materials and Human Health Summit. The session, which is scheduled for 2 to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 21, will focus on the bill of materials (BOM) in a building project, including explanations and limitations of key transparency systems, a discussion of how manufacturers along the supply chain can use transparency tools to communicate critical information, and information regarding how to define a product within LEED® and within the wider building materials market.
