There are still a few open seats available for ACPA's
Roadway Concrete Pavement Design Workshop, which will provide practical
training on concrete pavement thickness design for roadways. This
course presents practical information about pavement design, while also linking
pavement design theory and practice with pavement
construction. Participants also will have the opportunity to
discuss pavement design problems, as well as to do hands-on training with
state-of-the-practice software and other tools.
About the Program
The focus of this workshop is concrete pavement design, but also will
emphasize the interdependence of design and construction. Upon completing
this workshop, participants will know which design software and tools to use
for a given project and will be able to design better performing and more
cost-efficient concrete pavements.
ACPA's Robert Rodden, P.E., will present pavement design fundamentals and
in-depth training on concrete pavement design using real-world design
challenges. Discussions will cover common jointed plain
concrete pavement (JPCP) thickness design methods for over-the-road traffic,
and how these methods compare; types of concrete pavement
overlays and concrete overlay design; and more. With a
solid foundation of these key considerations, Rodden also provide
hands-on training using ACPA's roadway thickness design software
(StreetPave and WinPAS), as well as other pavement design resources.
This essential workshop
also will include presentations by:
- Kelly Steeves, Leica Geosystems, who will cover recent and emerging construction equipment innovations.
- Ing. Juan Pablo Covarrubias, TCPavements, and Nigel Parkes, PNA Construction Technologies, Inc., who will cover the short-slab design approach using OptiPave™ system, as well as a demo of the software program.
Your Registration
Includes $600 in Complimentary Software!
Participants of the
workshop will receive complimentary copies of ACPA’s StreetPave 12 and WinPAS
12 software (a $600 value).
Professional
Development Hours
ACPA will award up
to thirteen (13) professional development hours (PDH’s) to participants who
complete this workshop. The award of PDH’s is intended for states/provinces
that allow self-reporting, but in all cases, participants interested in the
award of PDH's should check with local licensing organizations for specific
requirements prior to registering and participating in this workshop.
Who Should Attend?
This course is
ideal for pavement design professionals, engineers, consultants, contractors,
professors and other instructors, and other industry professionals who may have
an interest in pavement design and/or the benefits and effects of proper
pavement design on other aspects of pavement construction. A basic
understanding of concrete pavement design and construction methods is helpful
to this workshop. Much of the discussion will be advanced and assume prior
knowledge on common concrete pavement engineering factors and considerations.
Location, Date, and
Times
This comprehensive
training event will be held at ACPA’s Rosemont, Illinois-headquarters, located
approximately 1 mile east of O'Hare International Airport at 9450 W. Bryn Mawr
