New products and services for pros.

Coating solutions company SIOResin has unveiled its latest product, the SIO-7213 waterborne high-temperature resistant silicone resin. According to the Guangzhou, China-based group, this product sets new benchmarks in the performance of zinc-rich, anti-corrosion coatings by combining superior heat and salt spray resistance for demanding industrial environments.

SIO-7213 is designed to meet the rigorous requirements of high-temperature industrial applications with a capacity to withstand sustained exposure from 200 to 650 °C (392 to 1,202 °F) and short-term peaks up to 800 °C (1,472 °F). It outperforms traditional zinc-rich coatings, ensuring long-term reliability in extreme heat conditions.

One of the standout features of SIO-7213 is its corrosion resistance. A 15-micron (0.6-mil) coating formulated with this resin achieves more than 2,000 h of neutral salt spray protection, delivering more than three times the durability of conventional inorganic zinc-rich primers.

As a waterborne silicone resin, SIO-7213 is free of toluene and xylene, and it also complies with stringent environmental regulations. It cures through self-crosslinking at room temperature, eliminating the need for baking and simplifying application processes.

Additional features include rapid surface drying with superior wetting and leveling performance; broad compatibility with spherical zinc powder, flake zinc powder, and zinc-aluminum alloy powder; and an ability to resist chalking and peeling even under high temperatures.
