Abstract
Pipeline installation by Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) i.e., trenchless technology, has gained popularity over the last four (4) decades. Sound engineering practices, site conditions, and safety considerations dictate the use of HDD methodology for installing a pipeline segment. HDD is often recommended by regulatory agencies and governmental agencies to avoid contamination, disturbance, and flow interruption of water bodies and especially in environmentally sensitive areas (ESAs). This pipe replacement is an update of the field work, design, pull through installation, type of coatings, inspection, repair, and cathodic protection (CP) testing.
